Paranoia

I lie awake, inside my dreams
where nothing is the way it seems.
Here, up is down and left is right.
It's where my mind turns day to night.

Try as I might, I can't escape,
although, I see the door, agape.
The people here all laugh and smile,
though their words all seem so vile.

I find a place to hide in fear,
but hear the voices coming near.
I dread the men who'll soon come take me.
Oh please oh please won't someone wake me?
