Parents

By ayrthon    ayrthon

I’m tired of being told what to do
Or how to do it
This is my life
I wish they would just leave me to it

I know they care
But they don’t show it right
So I never let down
Without a good fight

So many lessons
Always more to learn
But when they speak
My fists start to burn

They don’t know when to quit
They think they know best
So show them how wrong they are
But never give in and you’ll get far

I love them
And they love me
They just don’t know
How rough it is to be a teen

They don’t understand me
And vice versa
For every comment in this world
Either scars or heals us

So I want to be best
To make them proud
Show them my worth
To our house

So this is it
As drab as it seems
These are the parents
Of a growing teen
