Path to the Sun

The fish was in the ocean's wrath
with little sunlight on its path.

Desperate to see the light of day,
he wanted to swim all the way
to see the glitter of morning sun
with millions of fish, not only one.

He swam with all his might,
although he met many frights.

When he reached the very top
all the loneliness in him was forgot.

This Poems Story

I wrote "Path to the Sun" because first, I was inspired by my fourth grade teacher's love of the ocean. It's a fun, friendly poem for children, and I believe older adults can relate to the deeper meaning behind the poem. I really got in to poetry when my older sister started writing poetry. I thought it was so "cool." Also my fourth grade teacher loved poetry so that's what we did in our spare time.
