Pay Attention

Here it is, won't you pay attention
I'll talk you through the displays of depression
This isn't a story just a tale of possession
Losing control while I scream this confession

As the days go by, I hide inside and far behind
The faces you know, the emotions I'll show
The fear down below is so far from leaving
These lies that I know, I trust and believe in

The way this deceives does not define me
This up and down road is all I can see
The signs that you see all face that direction
I try not to need this painful obsession

My darkest thoughts I wish you could read
My invisible heart and the way that it bleeds
My need for you, my love and obsession
You can save me in this life of depression

Here it is, now I see your attention
I'll talk you through the displays of depression
This isn't a story, just a tale of possession
Gaining control while I scream this confession

This Poems Story

Poetry to me is a combination of thoughts, dreams, observations and inspirations. I am from Australia and have been writing for about twenty-five years. "Pay Attention" is about shining a little light on depression, a subject that is not talked about nearly enough, a subject that produces fear of the unknown. When we don't understand it, we fear it. It's a mental illness and it's not contagious. Please pay attention.
