Peace Through the Pieces

When did life go wrong?
Was it me or was it you?
All I remember is your back...
Unconditional love was the broken promise
From a cursory father to me, a lost daughter.

Patches of ugly scarred my body like
The cigarette burns on our coffee table.
He filled the holes that you burned in me...
He never gave up on me, while everyone else left,
He stayed and consolidated my soul.

With my heart and mind at war,
I sank into the bottomless pit. Then
Piece by piece he collected me...
Once lost and very afraid, I found
the winding road to happiness.

You gave it your all to eradicate my
Heart. It may have worked then, but
Piece by piece, he restored my faith...
I know I am beautiful and worthy to be loved.
I have found peace through my broken pieces.
