Penitent Nail

The fears caged in emotional wrath,
motherless children feel the floor and the cathedral
ceiling of despair waiting for a communal bath.
Foreign tongues wag a dialect of keepers beyond the stream,
unknown to separated children at the border.
Slaughtering innocents! Freedom’s dream!
Nation time, browning the social fabric of privilege, Wait,
unsettled grifters canonize Kapo bullies!
Blanching the language of hate.
Undocumented criminals crossing international railroad tracks,
to safe haven and sanctuary in deportation zones.
In the cities, bullets flying, and communities dying, targeting blacks!
Penitent, nailed to the complacency of electoral change,
silent to minority voices stopped by vigilante justice,
animus to gender difference and aloof to family estrange.
Remaining, country reframed to populist deranged
Constitution, trashed, thrown away with the plowshares
cultural wars finger point draconian change!
Penitent, chained to the blood stained wall,
waiting for redemptions call!
