Peppermint as Sweet as It Smells

We had peppermint-pink cheeks
with ice gliding underneath our feet
Laughing as one of us had to hold up the other
then snorting as soon as one of us fell
Our pants being dusted with the ice scraped up from all the skaters
Finding our little escape from the brisk winter air
in a quaint small town coffee shop
the taste of rich warm hot-chocolate
creamy cloud soft marshmallows
and the sweet candy-cane stirring stick
all while it made our ice-cold hands warm once again
and every time peppermint whirls around in the air
I think of those bittersweet-peppermint-candy-cane moments
