Perfect Strangers

Perfect strangers
In passing, dance,
A tip of the hat
A sideways glance,
A nod, a wink,
A knowing smile,
Like a pirouette
Ballerina style.
Swirling, spinning
To a silent band,
A bow, a courtesy,
A kiss on the hand,
Black and white
Side by side,
Crossing borders
In their stride.
Skin on skin
And naked feet
Touch, as lovers
On a crowded street
Embracing, facing
Unknown dangers,
The perfect dance
For perfect strangers.
