Was our love so writ in sand
Only several months ago?
Lies to cover lies
Are you a person I will ever know?

Such a dual existence
Of everything I knew
So naively blinded
By the trust I placed in you

To not know my misplaced love
Would be my own undoing
Broken, shattered, dismal pieces
Forlorn in my gluing

Haunted by the words
Wrote and read
My mind cannot escape
The painful visions in my head

Declarations of your love
Feel so writ in sand too
When the past has had
So much more of you

Unsure if what is broken can be mended
Unsure of how strong I can be
And you don't make it any easier
When you cannot offer more than words to me
