Phoenix

He watched her as she watched him
He of fire and she of skin
He spread his wings as she raised her arms
He of flames and she of charm
He bowed his head as she bowed hers too
He of old ashes and she of earth once new
He sprang high as she crouched low
He of billowing light and she of skin like snow
He sang without words as she sang with them
He of crackling echoes and she of musical hymn
He perched near her as she began to sway
He of whispered folk tales and she of the very day
He came close as she leaned to touch
He of blazing heat and she who felt no such
And then they wondered what they were
A great bird aflame
And a girl unnerved
And then she fell-
Fell into him
Became the Phoenix
And he, the Human
