Pictures on the Wall

Lying in her comfy bed oh so divine
Morning tugs at her semi-conscious mind
Lifting her eyelids to slowly greet the day
And view the wall where familiar pictures hang

A stretch of the body, an inhale and yawn
She rises from her pillow and honors the dawn
Placing her feet on the floor in a ritual way
She pauses to consider what to create today

To the kitchen for a bowl of sliced sweet peaches
She journals gratitudes and some healing beseeches
Dressing, aware of each sleeve, button, and brush of her hair
While the pictures on the wall give her a comforting stare

She ties her shoes to embark on her walk
Followed with a gentle swim to clear more thoughts
Thwarting the loom of doctor day, she savors a nap
Surrounded by her pictures, like friendly gift wrap

Back from the appointment, what can fill the space
Music, chores, dinner, all with her prayers of grace
Her body fatigued and hinting changes are near
She lies in bed to read some words of faith and cheer
Before extinguishing the lights, she again does pause
Reassured by the pictures still hanging, on the wall
