Piece Of Paper

Just an ordinary piece of paper
It lies limp and lifeless, like nothing
but it is very much alive

It controls everything about our lives
Every aspect of your life

The way you eat, dress, and even communicate
From who you date to what house you live in

We fight and kill, just for this piece of paper
The entire world begs for this piece of paper

If you don't have it, you are considered a lesser being
If you have the most, you are an amazing human and a legend

It restricts us, it binds us
It teases us, it taunts us

We act like nothing is wrong
But we let it control us

What you call a dollar bill
What you call a necessity

I see as just an ordinary piece of paper
