Plea of Ages Past

Her song rings down through the ages
Whispers of tales of old
Echoes of ancient stories
Will her voice stand alone?

She has seen the terrors of battle
Heard cries of desperate men
Carried questions left unanswered
From the grave to eternity.

She's heard glad cries of youth
And pangs of misery
Life that looks good for a moment
Is ended suddenly.

She knows the patterns of life
In wisdom she has seen them all
The past, she knows, is over
Yet it's effects are all around.

Will no one heed her cry?
Will no one hear her song?
Will her footsteps be forgotten?
Must times past repeat their wrongs?
