Please Stay Here with Me

Running through the meadow of bright yellow flowers
she saw one tree.
Under the tree sat a boy.

"Will you come run with me?" she asked.

"I cannot, I am too tired you see.
Will you sit here with me?"

"But we can run and laugh and chase the birds," she said.

"I cannot, but please stay here with me.
We can watch the deer pass by,
and stare at the stars as the night grows dark," he said.

"If only you could run with me,
but, I will stay here with you.

"We will watch the deer pass by
and stare at the stars as the night grows dark,
and we will dream of running, laughing,
and chasing the birds, you see."
