Poet of My Life

Book tossed aside on the streets of Troy
A Night Without Armor, poems by Jewel
Had to pick it up
It was love at first sight
She became the poet of my life
And I thought of making you my future wife
Her titles, her descriptions
They brought me to you
Yes, this poem is about you
I hold on to you
What a jewel you are
With those eyes, green as glass
Your hair, blonde as gold
And the way you dress, in excess
You could make any guy blush
And want to touch
I'm the one with the crush
Hush, hush
What a jewel you are
I hold on to you
These five words I swear to you, girl
I love you
I hold on to you

This Poems Story

I'm thirty years old. I have a sister who I love that inspires me day by day to keep going as a team captain, a volunteer at the Northeast NY Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation known now as JDRF. I also have a half brother, a step-father, and a mother. I am also a volunteer for the Regional Food Bank. I have done the open mic and the slam with the Albany poets. I enjoy writing poems and books.
