Portrait of a City

As the sunlight covers everything
And the air that once filled out lungs have disappeared
You still sit in silence looking at me
We still feel alone

The city lights lavish the town
The night tries to whisper but it isn't clear
Why have I always stayed here?

I miss the golden sky and the dark nights
We were okay, like always
Memories of us are still playing, they're still young
Old records line the walls
The little things always matter, they always have

So we sit and take in each other
While we sit on top of a building
Feeling the most powerful and the most powerless at the same time
As we paint a portrait of a city
