Pretty Lies

There was a time when I'd let you tell me a lie
because it sounds pretty.
It's like walking towards a cliff, eyes closed,
with only my imagination to guide me.
Then I realized it's foolish to navigate my way
so blindly.

So, I opened my eyes and there you were
at the edge of the cliff,
hands stretched out, telling me you love me.
Again and again, your words play in my head
like a broken record.
So, I took a step closer, you grabbed me and pushed me.
You let me fall into the endless abyss.

You and your excuses,
I won't lie, I'm not surprised.
I should have saw it coming this time.

so, tell me another lie that sounds pretty,
I'll tell you an ugly truth.
I'll set myself free from you.
