Pulchrum Visu Periculosa

We burn holes in the moon with our eyes
And we cause stars to go supernova
The sun clings to the sky by ties
But one day it will fall to Earth in a coma
It’s impossible to focus on the dust in the air
Or the lines that make your fingertips unique
If I could see what I wanted, anywhere
I would set fire to every mountain peak
These particles that settle on my windowpane
Are made to simply emit energy
When my eyes fall, these particles don’t stay
Committed to defying lethargy
Like the way the sun reflects on the leaves
These blades of green make a minefield of fire
The cause of destruction, a diamond, believed
My sight has trapped me in a flame roaring higher
