Pure Soul Turned Dark and Cold

My lover had a pure soul
The brightest you’d ever seen
It was a beacon in the darkness
But then one day everything changed
The demons swept through
It tore into that soul
Stripping it of light
Now all that’s left
Is a cold void
Colored red and black
And I say so be it
As I pull the void close
Whispering false hope
To comfort myself, or the void
I will never know
