Purple Pain

You said the color of our love would be that of a light purple-
That's when I saw the honey distilling from your lips.

I let you smear the sweet residue of your words
Onto the nape of my neck
And as my skin absorbed your dewy affection
I came within kissing distance of this death.

The taste of your verses ran their course through my flowery veins
Like the most dulcet of poison,
And as I was swimming in the pupil of your eyes,
The cold of your forehead chilled my
Nervous hands.

Your citrus-laced laughter caressed the interior of these walls
That when braided together with the velvet night
Tied me down.

The elixir of your purple love fills the crevices of my mind,
And now I feel your Purple Pain.

The sky bruised and bled
In colors violet , blue and red.
The heavens reflect the very colors of my soul.
For, I am bruised
As I lay in your bed.
