Pursed Lips

Hold me down I might just float away
I've got so much to say But it's stuck
Try as you might I'll put up a fight
These thoughts will stay In the muck
There's a tremor in my hand I keep dropping all the sand
I've been trying to release But my body just won't let me
I agree that it'd be grand If we could flee this disaster land
But darling appearances must be kept Or where would we be
I'd love to throw it all away Be a rebel for a day
Just you and I Screaming away the pain
But there's all these things to pay And no matter what we say
The ones we answer to Have too much to gain
So I'll let my body keep on failing me I'll stifle all the anxiety
I'll let them keep on taking the best parts of me
And perish at their command
