Put On a Show
Sometimes I look at people smiling, I wonder how they do so,
I ponder their happiness,I wish I had their glow.
I want to give in,Just stop it all now,
Walk off stage,Take my final bow.
Life's just a show,We put on for our peers,
Faking smiles, playing games,As we hide our tears.
At night in our rooms,We practice our lines,
So one day soon maybe,We can get it right.
Back up the next day,Up the curtains go,
As people we lose abilities,But as actors we grow.
We let go of ones we love,And don't put up a fight,
I think my role was given wrong,I've got so much to rewrite.
My editor was out today,So I changed what wasn't me,
Changed my friends, changed my name,Changed who I would be.
So pick up the paper,Do what fits you,
You're writing your own script now,Pick your cast and crew!
This is goodbye for now,I wish you well!
Now go on my friend,You have a script to sell!
