Rain Boots

Her smile on a passport with her mind miles out.
I fought oceans to hear her voice,
but the crashing of waves was too loud to hear over.
Rainy days did not determine my mood.
Puddles never flooded my subconscious.
But the ocean is not a puddle and it is much too large -
for rain boots.
