Reaching Trees

Trees stand proud and tall
Rising with the help of time
Roots run deep with ideals
They must Anchor before they can climb

Some can be in a hurry
Eager to reach the light
But to neglect a need for soil
May allow wind to win a fight

While Seasons will come and go
The race will never fade
Those around them know
Death can come from another's shade

So grow and grow with gradual rage
Extending branches far away
Claiming space beyond it's needs
Aging showing signs of fray

Alone they stands with tears of sap
Sobbing as their leaves now fall
All this to reach the sun
No longer proud, but always tall
