Rebecca’s Poem

I am from notebooks,
from Sakura pens and headphones.
I am from the backyard
(grassy, lush, it looks so pretty)
I am from the lavender, the leaves
the pleasant scent greeting me in the morning
I am from the sarcasm and silence
from Lynn and Ken
I'm from the serious Christians and
the young cousins who swarm
From "Work harder, you'll be successful," and
"Take it easy if you want.'
I'm from rich meals at holidays and stay-in everydays
I'm from Ireland and Poland,
cashews and sweet desserts.
From Jake the dog's life
the double holidays for the offspring
I am from cozy messes and a jumbled, but loving, family tree.
