Reckless Desire

I knew at once that I wanted you,
but my needs were another matter.
This heart could never be true,
Your precious trust, I would shatter.
I loved you once and it was oh so wrong,
I felt no joy in what we had done,
But I carry the memory like that of a song,
Replaying the passion of our bond.
The loss of love didn't come as a shock,
I knew you would leave me in the end...
The only pain I couldn't block,
was the life you left behind... within.
