Recollection of Selfless Heroes

Every day we walk among
The hidden heroes in crowds
Shying from waves of gratitude
But accepting with a simple nod
That stranger with a stretched smile
Hides nightmares with eyes wide open
And takes each step like their last
Recalling buried tip toeing memories
Relieved to let sole touch ground
Such common irate tempers
Of petty affairs
The numbness of opportunity
And unknowingly fortunate
Eyes have seen what is not known
Of fallen angels
Now watching over, keeping guard
Selfless in all eternity
In flesh and in spirit
