Red and Blue

Are roses more than red
And violets more than blue
That if the sparkle on a petal
Was more than just the dew
A tear that falls, a rose that's bled
I will bear it too
That if the prick upon the stem
Was more than just the thorns
Ones who've failed, a rose that's grown
I hope to have prevailed
That if and when it opens
Was more than just a sign
A chance to love, a chance to try
I will share this to
That if the hue of new blue
Was more than just the light
Was God and you and something true
And all I know that's right
That if the breeze that sways the limbs
Was more than merely random
That was the fate... That would not wait
That brought you nearer me
That if the scent of the flower
Was more than just sweet nectar
A sweet desire to transpire
And an end to this waking hour
