Redeemed

Tethered to a lever
Moving to the off position
Ten more minutes till my last transmission
Restless souls and broken bones
Hope for time to atone
Staring at the light at the end of the tunnel
It's dim and just a little bit muddled
Dwindling hope
Resting on my heart
"Do as you're told, and just play your part"
Is what you remember from before things went so wrong
How could you let it go on so long?
Remorse and regret color your vision
Just enough time for one last decision
Make the right choice and maybe then
You can release yourself from your sin
One good deed in this world of man
Can redeem your conscience, and let you start again.
