Reflection

I look at life… thru many a lens,
Thru my eyes…my mind… and even with pens.

We are all of different race… religion… and creed.
Our common denominator is… the blood that we bleed.

Some people are lucky… to have a blessed life,
While some people are dealt… a life with a lot more strife.

This journey we’re on… is different everyday,
Some days you smile and some days you swear… what can I say.

Some of us… are on the Red Road,
And some of us… will always be on Overload.

My journey has brought me on many a trail,
It has left me at times… feeling quite frail.

I’m no different… in my addiction,
I’ve caused frustration, pain and I’m POSITIVE… tons of friction.

The day came when I finally had enough,
Admitting to myself this was it…was really tough.

This was not to only help myself… but those AROUND me,
To finally OPEN my ears… and hear their plea.

I put myself into detox to start getting clean,
In a room for days… blood pressure high, shaking… as I start to wean.

Off to treatment nine days later I go,
This was just the beginning of my journey… as I know.

My story isn’t special…. or different…from most of us here,
We share the same struggles… from far and near.

Reflection… is not just something that you see in a mirror.
It’s a understanding… that when you look back… you’ve conquered your fear.

Be proud of yourself… even for the smallest quest,
Know in your mind… you are doing your best.

One day at a time… is NOT just a quote,
For us… this is what keeps us afloat.

I believe… to each is their own,
It’s not MY place to say or bemoan.

I WILL stand beside you if you need a friend,
With a hug or a handshake… that has no end.

As a human race… we NEED more compassion,
Let’s not do it… because we think it’s fashion.

Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes,
And I GUARANTEE … you will feel some different blues.

My words are nothing… but a grain of salt,
So take from it what you will… with no fault.

What I’ve learned in MY journey is… life WILL give you a second chance.
Don’t bypass the opportunity… with just a glance.

The unknown… is the most SCARIEST thing,
But you WILL be proud of yourself… when you reach and grab that brass ring.

So Thank You… to all who have had my back,
I will ALWAYS have yours… that is just a fact.

Much Love and Respect,
