Reflection of Beauty

I am not looking at a picture
I am looking at reality.
I am not looking at a model
I am looking at the people in front of me.
These people are considered friends, family members. strangers
Instead of feeling prettier, by hanging out with the "misfits"
I hang out with those whom society feels are "the beauties."
I hang out with them, but for what?
To remind myself that I will never look like them or be them?
To remind myself to try harder?
When was the last time society saw beauty take over the country?
But I guess it does not matter.
Beauty is the cover of magazines, beauty is chosen before talent.
Beauty lies within every product sold, beauty is set on commercials.
Take a breath of their sadness
Look at every wide-eyed girl dripping their tears.
They can never be enough, or that's how they feel.
Girls, young ladies, and women will never be satisfied
Until society is.
