Release

Distant are the shadows that once would shelter me,
Far behind they linger where once you used to be.
Now it is the darkness that follows me my plight;
Still I hear the memories that call me in the night.

If never you will see me now all is said and done,
At least forgive my shortfall and help me find the sun.
Don't post me foreign letters and watch me as I read,
The words that hold the answers that I cannot receive.

Just gently give me goodbye and let me fade away,
Forget I ever knew you or loved you for a day.
Don't dwell on what we had when there's nothing else to do;
Don't look for me again because I have forgotten you.

I had to send the memories to a far and distant place;
I had to leave it all behind and give in to the taste,
Of the sour truth you gave me instead of blissful peace.
And know that as I move on I've found my sweet release.
