Remembering

We never appreciate the ones around us
Until they're gone.
That's when we realize
How much they meant to us,
How much we needed them.
Then the pain rips through us
Like razor blades.
We scream Louder than banshees.
We remember their smile,
Oh, how it could brighten anyone's day.
The pain digs deeper
And the screams are even louder.
But we have to remember
That even though they're not next to us,
And we can not see them,
Or hear them,
They are not gone.
They live forever,
In our hearts.
