Requiem for The Revenant Returned
Requiem for the revenant returned
Not to home but to the stars above us;
The warm fire of which his soul had burned
Praise be the revenant, gallant chorus.
Still, within us, he will stay whole, alive
A song to sing, a story to ponder,—
A soul filled with darkness that we should strive
To understand, to question and wonder.
Never know, shall we, his innermost death
We are not he, surely, he is not we;
Wonder us, during his last, final breath
Did he repent and did God set him free?
Requiem for these revenants unknown
For, in the end, they leave unnamed, alone.

We are all revenants trying to find our way in the dark.
