Resplendent Quetzal

Resplendent bird of colors shining bright,
Your tail a banner waving in the mist,
I stand in awe of incandescent flight.

Blazing red and emerald green and white
In nature's creatures seldom coexist.
Resplendent bird of colors shining bright,

You wear them bravely at the height
Of trees which sun and fog have kissed.
I stand in awe of incandescent flight.

To trap and cage you never could be right,
Nor hold your brilliance in a greedy fist.
Resplendent bird of colors shining bright,

Your flying freely is a glorious sight.
Of grace and joy and beauty it consists.
I stand in awe of incandescent flight.

And when your day on Earth approaches night
Then you must fly at last to Heaven's tryst.
Resplendent bird of colors shining bright,
I stand in awe of incandescent flight.
