Darkness descended take only the cry
Beneath endless cold wave froze misery
Rescind thou notion to forever lie
For I know thy motives souls left empty.

Now cry though my sorrow remain alive
Forgotten life, not thy crowning decay
For thy soul my broken mourning contrive
And silently now thy debt I repay.

Left me suf'ring on visions too hopeful,
And caged within the spire of thy complete
Unto soft fantasy does absence cool,
And destine to wander the spire repeat.

But thine soft eyes not in earthly desire,
Now mirrors glee lauding of He admired.
