Road to Nowhere

The dark sky was oddly comforting,
As my arm rested on the outside of an old car window,
Fingers smoothly slicing through the wind,
The cold consumes my body from my fingertips to my toes,
My eyes focused on the dark horizon,
one that's air polluted and illuminates the sky
Dark tree tops creating a calm silhouette,
My gaze wandering to the stars shining as bright as a winter storm,
I take long breaths as my lungs fill with a rush of a cold breeze,
My safe place, driving with no particular destination, no obligation-
Just a vacant road and the sweet silence of the night
