Roads

line after line

blank yellow reflections

screaming their glow.

signs whir past.

I refuse to heed their warnings.

the moon keeps pace

intent on accompanying me.

my foot pushing the pedal.

speed increasing.

adrenaline racing through my viens

faster than my car

on these empty roads.

no destination.

no goal,

other than to leave.

desiring freedom.

finding nothing.

these roads offer no answers.

they give no escape.

merely becoming another prison

I will never be free of.

these spiderweb streets

stick to my tires.

they won't allow me to make my own road,

to take my own chances

off the black top.

fenced in.

denied my liberty.

pedal down farther.

signs and regulations

still ignored.

straight and narrow,

the only way out.
