Romance #4

You led me down that primrose path
With blind faith into your wrath
Cause I’m a fool, reaching out for that ring
And a chance at the good, tomorrow would bring
It’s so easy for me to be deceived
I want those smiles, that only cupid brings
And the promises in the song, the siren sings
For I thrive in the hopes, of things I believe
Loneliness it sickens the soul
And heartbreak it leaves a hole
No witch doctor has a magic cure
Ain’t no potion, ain’t no charm
To cure that chill and make you warm
No substitutes, babe that’s for sure
Desperation it drives us mad
And the regret of what we could have had
Mistakes that haunt in the dead of the night
I know what you are going through
Babe you know I have been there too
Just look my way and I will shine a light
Don’t cut my hair and leave me blind
Have me drink that poison wine
And squander my last bit of trust
And I shall do you a honor too
Respectful, loyal tried and true
With passion that never bites the dust
