subterranea

girl’s been a cavern for as long as time,
always harbored something deep
something terrifying, something yawning
a cave in her chest, winding, longing
travelers get trapped there
lose their limbs between her ribs and heart
make SOS signals for passing planes
but light cannot escape her
and neither can their voices

she’s a poet too
been trying to find beauty in the cave-in
prose for the sinkhole
but she’s still looking
and there’s nothing on the horizon
