Roses and Dandelions

Why, oh, why
do people prize
a flower like the rose?
They're rather fragile and delicate
(as far as flowers go).
Roses are just spoiled things
that demand all your attention,
whereas the ones like dandelions
need not your intervention.
They're bright and pretty little things--
floral bursts of light--
and when you try to kill them off,
they won't die without a fight.
Dandelions are both sturdy and strong
(as far as flowers go)
so why, oh, why
do people prize
a flower like the rose?
