ROSIE

By

Just taking a moment to remind you
Of the women of World War Two,
Leaving their homes, towns and friends
For a venture so totally new.
Some were wives of soldiers,
Some of us still in our teens
Wanting to help the war effort
By any way or means.
Some worked on ships, tanks and more,
Some of us worked on planes.
No matter what the job entailed,
You seldom heard us complain.
Somewhere along the production line
A lady "riveter" was shown,
So now, down through history
"Rosie The Riveter" has been known.
So glad to see interest now showing
To keep this history alive
By those taking time to remember
And for me, old memories revive.
