Rudely Awakened

In a child's dream,
Nothing can touch you;
You are the unknown,
And mystic wonder abounds.

How I wish that still I could,
In a smiling repose,
Slumber within the knowledge
That I too am loved;

And dream of safely journeying
To lands of peaceful power,
Where the forces with influence over man
Hung not on banners of hate and greed,
But on the yellow rays of loving play.
