I walked my dog last night while the sun beamed
Hot but breezy, the leash was blown around.
Held tight, worried it would leave like a stream
As the breeze took the leash it hit the ground.
The dog ran and I screamed my thoughts went crazy
She bolted smelling freedom among her
My heart racing wishing she was lazy
I chased and I chased wind blowing her fur
I knew she would stop, I hoped she would stop
I reached for her with a jump, arms out wide.
I grabbed her collar she halted and dropped
I did land on her, it hurt and she cried
I ran home holding her comforting close
I had her and love her, I hope she knows
