Sacred Heart

It was on a morning where the sun hid behind the clouds.
Almost midday, but grey all around.
That I came back to earth

She was asleep, within the comfort of my bed
It wasn't a palace or a fortress or mansion at best
but a mere mattress atop the floor
she preferred it, something about its simplicity.

I, for the life of me, could not acquire a moment of rest
For divine emotion could not contain its self within me
Neither a drink or a drug consumed
Still, the night before was a drunken blur
For together, we had taken our spirits high

It was there that I knew her,
It was there that I saw the light
For the angels blessed us with the petals of heavenly flowers
Holy tones brought upon by lutes of lapis lazuli
Golden threads strummed beautifully by the hands of our ancestors
In praise and rejoice we arrived
For the knowledge of love took us there
Infinite and pure.
