As I fall deeper into sadness, I want...
To shut everyone out,
To hide from my feelings,
Become a stone,
To cry a river
Of sorrow,
To never laugh again,
The sweet tone lost forever.
I have learned it is better...
To open up to people,
Voice my despair,
To confront my feelings,
Figure out why,
To hold back the tears of sorrow,
And to be strong,
To laugh all I can,
Never to forget that sweet tone.

This Poems Story

I'm an eighth-grader from Gregg Middle School, taking high school classes. I was born on March 20, 2000. When I was writing this poem I was not sad, I was just reflecting on how sadness can slowly consume you. I want to thank my dad, Jessie Lang, for supporting me and getting me to sign up for this contest. I also want to thank my writing teacher, Mr. Golden, for showing me how to put the words on paper.
