Sadness Comes Apart

Sadness Come Apart
Separated;
life apart
Not so intended from the start
Now cling we life alone
Deeply rutted, well worn path
Follows its rhythm and its tone

O this life in which we strive
So diligently we contrive
A new path to make us sound
Yet in the absence of another
Profound we hear the knocking of
our heart.

Knock;
Knock;
Knock;

It echoes in cavernous halls
An empty space
A knock of heart
On sterile walls
Where sound bounces
Nor flesh absorb
No life to walk we in accord

We see ourselves
A silhouette;
Dimly lit
In fading sun long gone
Mourning, crying, reaching
For one we’ve not yet known

We do not dare call out
We fear the sound and shout
Of the loneliness that lurches
Our soul’s life on which it perches

We reach for one not there
As heart does cry an icy stare
Wondering where we went as one
Separated;
Life undone

Yet made for others we agree
Yes;
I
Myself
Me!
