Safe and sound

He clutched her shivering hand,
she left her brazen mark,
he brushed his finger softly upon her quivering lips,
she started to speak softly,
so soft a mellow stream,
her wings collapsed, and so did she,
he caught her as she fell
and grasped her in his hands,
her pain was but a spell,
cast upon her life,
although she did not dwell,
her life was but a strife,
tears slowly rolled upon his bright red cheeks,
he could see the pain, she that she was weak,
he tried to lift her up, tried to fix her wings,
although he could not cure her, he'd always be around,
she started feeling warmer, feeling safe and sound.
