Safelight

Luckless nights never bothered her
from the streetlight by the window
Water drips from the seems as winter comes to her cheek
she never understood the reason behind the song he sang
Cascading beyond the simpleness of her other men
never wanting to be free until the day the listless sun dies
all the flowers in the world buried at feet
a lily never from the man singing his song
but the devastation that was left when she had gone
