Sailor’s Prayer

Neptune, I call to you,
Itching to jump in the sea.
My voyage is imminent,
I leave at dawn-
Will you protect me?
I've learned all the tricks-
Watched you day and night,
Waiting for the day I venture out to sea.
I leave my life in your willing hands,
Will you protect me?
Waves crash against the ship
Tossing us about,
Water spewing onto the deck.
Your anger is fearsome,
I beg you to answer-
Will you protect me?
Neptune, I call to you,
My voice aged with time.
Many years I have had with you.
On this grand finale,
My journey is bleak-
Will you protect me, my dear friend?
